I don't think it's dead. Rather, I think Internet communities have become so splintered that it's all mostly just roving bands of really tiny cliques now.

Probably it’s the insurgence of bots everywhere. And people fleeing ai feeding platforms like the plague.
Newgrounds is like one of the very few sites left that doesn’t tolerate that stuff.
Speaking out into a void and having no response is a painful feeling. That is why I write to people, even if the said writing doesn't make any sense.
Do not worry, even though the dead internet theory is becoming more real each day, let this be a reassurance that real people are still out there in this vast web. We'll be here for you, and if not, that means we are just lurking.
